Pipeline Loading Model

In today’s natural gas environment, the ability to see and understand the current activity of the U.S. natural gas transportation industry and to accurately forecast the impact of each system is essential to being competitive within the industry. In order to provide this ability to the industry, LCI's engineering and technical staff has developed the Pipeline Loading Model. This Model is a powerful operational and marketing decision making tool that focuses on operational statistics and loading designs of the major pipeline systems of the Lower 48 States. The Model addresses vital areas of interest on both a regional basis, e.g. regional imports and export volumes, and on an individual pipeline basis, e.g. capacities, utilization percentages, and flow volumes. Most importantly, this Model will allow users to stay in the forefront of industry development by providing the tools needed to analyze not only the current but also the future potential activity in the gas transmission industry.

With the Pipeline Loading Model, LCI is arming its subscribers with the most accurate and user-friendly analytical tool available in the industry today. LCI subscribers, with this Model at their disposal, will hold a distinct advantage over their counterparts when quick decisions and rapid assessments of the industry are required. This Model will be essential in conducting the very critical analyses of the Gas Pipeline industry on both a macro- and micro -level. The built-in loading feature of pipeline information and the precise engineering of its forecast systems makes this Model the essential outlook tool that its users will rely on to stay on the cutting edge of this industry. The Pipeline Loading Model will integrate data from LCI's monthly operational and production databases and LCI's Gas Forecast Model and thus will be consistent and compatible with all of LCI’s other reporting systems.

The Pipeline Loading Model provides the user with the ability to conduct sensitivity analyses consistent with the user's operational concepts by allowing interactive changes in the Model. If, for instance, the user wants to know the outcome of a change in a load factor volume change, the user simply inputs the desired data and the Model will instantly provide an analysis based on the new input. The analysis will include the resulting pipeline flows, utilization percentages and a regional balance in a “client revised” forecast. This very important capability gives the user the ability to perform unlimited analyses of all desired scenarios. It also provides the user with the ability to instantly generate a forecast that can be based on real time information. The Pipeline Loading Model will be updated every month and will be made current with the latest operational data available.
